Born and bred in Sydney, Australia, Alexis graduated from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) with a BA in Musical Theatre. She was nominated for a Helpmann Award for her performance as 'Young Dusty' in Dusty, her first job out of school. Alexis then went on to star in some of Australia’s biggest musicals including Shout! and the award winning Sydney premiere of Kiss of The Spiderwoman. Other credits include Urinetown, Closer, Troupers for the Sydney Theatre Company as well as plays at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival and Monkey Baa Theatre.
Alexis has lived in New York City since 2008 and performs extensively in cabaret and off-Broadway theatre. In 2012 she was awarded the New York Music Theatre Festival’s “Next Broadway Sensation” title and made her solo debut at 54 Below. She is the creator and star of Club Gelbe Stern, a one-woman musical set in Berlin 1933 which debuted in Australia in 2011 and made it’s US debut at the 2014 New York Musical Theatre Festival. Alexis was awarded ‘Outstanding Individual Performance’ at the festival’s Excellence Awards. Her most recent show, Boychiks of Broadway, was performed at Shir Madness Jewish Music Festival, the Sound Lounge at the Seymour Center in Sydney and at Pangea in New York City.
Her latest show, Amy Winehouse: Resurrected, debuted in Australia in 2018 and played The Loft at City Winery in New York City in 2019 in a double bill with Amy's father Mitch Winehouse.
A passionate advocate for Holocaust education and remembrance, Alexis sits on the board of 3GNY, an organization for the grandchildren of Holocaust survivors. Alexis also holds a Masters in International Relations from Deakin University and was honored to sing for troops in Iraq and Afghanistan during the Iraq war. Her personal essays have been published in two books, God, Faith and Identity in the Ashes, and the i'Mpossible Project's Lemonade Stand. Alexis also enjoys jumping on board Celebrity Cruise Line's biggest ships every now and then to rock out to the hits of Queen with Rock Rhapsody USA. While onboard and not performing, you can usually catch her sipping a piña colada in the hot tub.
